The Pre-Cana Seminar

I specifically prepared for this major requirement for several reasons...One, I'm not particularly a religious type of person; not that I'm not a faithful Catholic. I go to church to attend masses and sometimes visit to pray if time permits. But when you talk about habitually participating to church activities..Groom-to-be is the active one while I'm the passive one. Two, this seminar is for a whole day and half and I can't really imagine myself sitting down listening to a long and serious lecture for long hours.

Nevertheless, I have to overcome this certain hesitations deep inside. As they all say, getting married does not only entail that you are prepared physically and financially. Most importantly is to prepare ourselves emotionally and spiritually.

The pre-cana was conducted by the Sisters from the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD) at the Family Ministry in Caceres office.
groom took me this pic while waiting for the seminar to start

The seminar consisted of different modules basically divided into Day 1: The Church doctrines and teachings and Christianity and Marriage, Responsible Parenting and at Day 2: the Natural Family Planning Method and the Basics of a Catholic Wedding.

I remember the lines below from Daniel Akin worth sharing to all the couples out there. It is entitled, the Wisdom for a Wonderful Marriage, to wit:

1. Accept your mate as a gift from God
2. Be attentive to their needs
3. Show affection
4. Be available
5. Be action oriented:
    a. Repent of your failures and sin
    b. Remember the things you used to do when you fell in love
    c. Return to those special places and activities
    d. Redo them again and again

** In other words, perhaps you are at a point where what you really need is a new marriage.  Great!  Begin treating each other like you did when you first began dating.  Court, romance and honor each other as it was in the beginning, and see if God doesn’t do something wonderful.  Of course, a new marriage may require a new mate, and a new mate is possible only through a relationship with a new master:  Jesus Christ the Lord.  **

Done with our pre-cana finally! So we took some souvenir photos at the facade of the Cathedral at 12:00noon and we're really hungry!

That's all for today..
